When we think of the universe, why do we sometimes turn back to our inner self? The inner and outer worlds seem to be disconnected at first glance, but their harmful effects are probably created by human perception. A world of wavering boundaries created by sound, light and physical expression: the avant-garde art form Dark Butoh, born in 1961, will portray the illusion and chaos that contemporary thought engenders while connecting its spirit to the ground. What we have forgotten. It may be the existence of life, which has been lost from our sight as we live our lives in this way. The spatial work 'Row' hopes to reaffirm such existence and to serve as an alarm to the body's functions that are usually asleep.
The performing art "ロウ (ləʊ)" celebrated its first performance at the music art festival MUTEK.JP in December 2021. The performance, which uses sound, light and physical expression, succeeded in creating a sense of immersion by experimentally layering all kinds of ideas to create an experience that reaches the viewer's nerves. Two dark butoh dancers emerge as their whole bodies are lulled into a hypnotic state by the music. Their bodies, illuminated by light and floating in the darkness, were clad in a fantastical atmosphere that evoked a world outside reality.
